I enjoy shooting human engineered subjects, as the symmetry and straight lines of our design contrast those found in nature. Scenes of urban decay are some of my favorite to capture, as they often share a glimpse into the past while demonstrating the raw power the Earth has to erode even our most magnificent structures.
This old brick tenant building is located in the hills of Oneonta, where its age and character inspired me while visiting a dear friend.

Built in 1893 to be a luxury hotel, this building, Halcyon Hall, became a women's college in 1907, which it remained until it went bankrupt and closed in 1978. It was scheduled to be demolished in 2012, however it remains in this current state.

While on a hike in Northwest Woods, I came across this old car. It had been stolen many years prior, and when the drunken thief became desperate to avoid capture, it was driven hastily through the woods of East Hampton, where it currently sits among the pines.
This old farm supply co. building, now owned by a local church, has become a community hotspot in Fletcher, NC, where locals gather for mass and free bluegrass and gospel concerts on Friday and Saturday nights.
